New Arrival: Emperor, by Stephen Baxter

Just in is the new alternate history novel by Stephen Baxter, Emperor. This is slated to be the first book in his Time's Tapestry series. It follows the story of a Roman family as they struggle to survive over a 400 year period of the rise and fall of Rome by following an ancient prophecy.

Baxter is best known as an author of hard science fiction novels. The Somerset County Library System owns many of his other works.
